Practising self-care isn’t always easy, but there’s nothing you can’t do! Here are some self care tips that can come to your rescue
We’ve spent over a year dealing with the pandemic, and almost all of us have experienced a rollercoaster ride in our lives. Although we barely have a social life, there’s one thing we’ve all learned, and that is to focus on our health. That’s what the current scenario has taught us, right?
Self-care may seem meaningless, but prioritising your health can give you a plethora of benefits, both physically and mentally. And self-care is not limited to a particular age; it is important for all ages. It fills you up with more energy and joy so that you can actively complete your tasks.
Here are some basic self-care tips that can help you relax and feel better:
1. Make healthy dietary changes
Do you consume a balanced diet that provides your body with essential nutrients? Well, one of the most important things you can do to take care of yourself is to eat nutritious food. But when you think of self-care and comfort foods, you might envision treats like cupcakes, pizza or maybe butter chicken. These are great to treat yourself once a while, but take time to prepare a healthy meal at least once a day, so that you can feel energetic and active.
2. Zzzzzzzzzz..
Do you stay awake to binge-watch those episodes? We don’t blame you for it, but doing so can make you feel emotionally and physically tired, causing major health issues. Try going to bed on time and get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.
3. Find your stress reliever
Stress is your biggest enemy! Our lives are so busy these days that it’s important to remember to have some time to release daily stress. You can do it by watching your favourite show, listening to music, dancing, indulging yourself in your favourite activity, or meditating.
4. Spend time with friends and family
Because of professional or personal stress, don’t disconnect yourself from your social life. Socialising is the key to self-care. Make some time for your friends and family or your close relationships, so that you can maintain your close connections.
5. Take breaks
Even if you’re busy, just take a 10-15 minutes break each day, and do something that can relax you. You can go for a walk, call someone who’s close to you, have a relaxing cup of coffee, or engage in gardening.
6. Exercise regularly
Are you getting enough exercise? The physical benefits of exercise have long been recognized. It can help you both physically and mentally – it can boost your mood and reduce stress and anxiety, not to mention helping you shed extra kilos. If you don’t like exercising, then play music and get grooving. Trust us, it will add much-needed fun and positivity.
7. Dress up for no reason sometimes
Well, what you wear can affect your mood and even your work performance. You may have noticed it yourself! So whenever you feel low, just dress up and boost your mood with some positivity.
Finding time for self-care can be strenuous! Use your free time or make time to take care of yourself.
