If you are someone who wears makeup every day, the current protocol of covering your face with a mask has proven to be troublesome for many. Now that our new normal has changed, it won’t be wrong to say that our skin too has gotten used to them.

However, when it comes to makeup, we love to follow the mantra ‘less is more but even while doing the bare minimum, a full face of makeup on looks just incomplete without lipstick.

But putting on lipstick is one step that we often skip now because of the fear of staining the inside of our masks than our lips. Listed below are some tips and tricks on how you can keep your lipstick in place even when wearing a mask. Read on to know!

Tip 1

Start with exfoliation. Routine exfoliation makes lips smoother and also helps to make the colour last longer. The next step is to apply lip balm. You must moisturise your lips first before putting on lipstick. First, make your lips smooth and hydrated/ Flaky, chapped lips do not provide any colour payoff. Hence it is very important to use lip balm 15-20 minutes before applying lipstick.

Tip 2

Lip liner creates a barrier between your lipstick and your skin, preventing your lipstick from bleeding into the fine lines around your mouth. This barrier also blocks moisture, helping your lipstick last longer. Pick a lip liner that goes with the natural shade of your lips. Line the outer corners with it and then fill in the gap.

Tip 3

When wearing a mask over lipstick, one must keep in mind the formulation of the lipstick. Do not go opt for glossy or liquid lipsticks as they can increase the chances of smudging inside the mask. Matte lipsticks are best suited for wearing under the mask. Beauty experts suggest that matte lipsticks don’t smudge under the mask and tend to stay for a longer period of time.

Tips 4

Loose powder seals the moist consistency of lipstick and makes it last longer. It also helps to prevent makeup transfer or runoff one may experience in the middle of the day. After you are done applying lipstick, finish off your look with some loose powder. Take some on the tip of your finger and dab it evenly on your lips.
