Here Is Why You Should Be “Baking” Your Hair and Not “Microwaving” It

Attention all girls that curl their hair, we are guilty of microwaving the crap out of it, which fries your locks in the process.

“Microwaving” is essentially the method of using your hot tool at too high of a temperature while often times using the wrong products. This method sizzles and caps it into shape but causes a rapid heat up and cool down process that doesn’t allow your hair to set in its form.

There is a method called “baking” that we really should be using. This method requires us to use a heat protector spray and a hot tool on a lower heat. This means that you are going to have to spend extra time allowing the curl heat up around the curling iron correctly in order to establish heat distribution.

Prep hair with a heat protectant and then set your iron to a safe 380 degrees. You will then want to hold each and every curl in the iron for 30 seconds to a minute depending on your hair length and its ability to curl.

This technique is a healthier route for your hair and keeps it looking evenly styled!
