The 11 Hair Color Trends That Will Dominate 2025

While it may seem cliché to talk about changing up your look for the new year, there’s something different about 2025. Everyone seems to be itching for a transformation and the hair color trends that experts predict will be huge in the new year have all of us welcoming change with open arms.

“I’m super excited for what’s coming in 2025 when it comes to hair color,” agrees Cass Kaeding, celebrity stylist and K18 ambassador. “It’s all about versatility and boldness.”

“The overarching trend is personalization,” adds Tracey Cunningham, celebrity colorist and Schwarzkopf Professional’s U.S. creative director of color and technique. “Clients want color that’s tailored to their features, enhancing their skin tone, eye color, and style. Whether it’s blonde, brunette, or red, it’s about creating a look that feels natural yet elevated.”

From bold shades of red like cherry cola and ginger spice to classic Old Hollywood blonde, there’s something for everyone. Below, the experts break down the 11 hair color trends that will be everywhere in 2025. Pin this for later.

Cherry Cola

Everyone wanted to go red in 2024. The same can still be true in 2025, but Cunningham says we can expect these reds to have some brunette hues. Say hello to cherry cola.

A mix of multidimensional lowlights and shadow roots, she says cherry cola gives red brown hair more depth and longevity.

Golden Silvers

Cunningham says that platinum blondes and icy silvers are timeless and trend every year. But for 2025, she sees people pairing their cooler shades with warmer golden undertones to give hair a soft blended effect that feels more wearable.

Ginger Spice

Kaeding says to think of ginger spice as the softer sister of the bright copper shade we’ve all come to know and love. “It’s warm, radiant, and complements pretty much any skin tone,” she says. “It’s perfect for those who want something rich and vibrant without being too over-the-top.”

Blended Grey Transitions

We’re all for embracing our natural grey hair. And according to celebrity colorist Sierra Kener, 2025 is the year that more people will forgo covering up those silver strands.

“For clients embracing their natural silver strands, the trend is about making it seamless and chic, blending highlights or lowlights to create a polished, intentional appearance,” adds Cunningham. To take care of your grey hair, you need to keep it hydrated. Kener recommends a mask like Roz Foundation Mask, which she says is deeply hydrating and reparative.

Timeless Blonde

Cunningham sees hair color for 2025 moving towards richer hues and multidimensional colors. She points to Lindsay Lohan’s blend of warm, buttery tones with soft highlights, calling it a luminous blonde that calls back to old Hollywood glamour. “[It] enhances her iconic style and proves that blondes can be sophisticated, dynamic, and elegant,” she says.

Mocha Mousse

Channeling the Pantone color of the year, Kaeding says mocha mousse is a shade to look out for. “This is a rich, warm brown with just a hint of coolness, making it super wearable,” she says. “It’s the perfect balance of depth and warmth, without being overly red or orange.” She recommends this for anyone looking for a sophisticated brown with a little extra dimension or looking for a shade that will subtly stand out.

Vibrant Copper

You can’t go wrong with any red shade for 2025. “The vibrant reds aren’t going anywhere,” says Kaeding. “Whether it’s bold copper or more of a deep cherry red, those rich, saturated shades are here to stay. They’re just so eye-catching and fun.”

She calls out the classic copper red for its fiery and striking, especially when you pair the shade with a sharp cut. Kener agrees that red shade will still be very popular and recommends using a UV protectant like the Incommon Magic Myst to keep hair looking vibrant.

Espresso Martini Brunette

Cunningham says that brunettes are having a moment right now and will continue to gain momentum in the new year. One of Cunningham’s favorite recent brunette looks is Khloé Kardashian’s Espresso Martini. “It’s rich, glossy, and dimensional—a true
‘expensive brunette’ shade that feels luxurious and elevated,” she says. In between touch-up appointments, she recommends using the Schwarzkopf Professional’s Igora Vibrance, which will enhance tone and boost shine.

Contrast Roots

Cunningham loves Lana Del Rey’s dark roots, which is a stark contrast to her softer, blended ends and gives her a cool effortless vibe, and predicts many will suit when it comes to their own roots. “It’s striking yet low maintenance, which makes it perfect for so many clients,” she says.

Moody Browns

Kener loves a dark moody brown for 2025, which offers high shine in a solid brunette shade. She recommends using the Mydentity Myhero Shampoo and Conditioner to keep new color-treated hair hydrated and looking vibrant.

Sunkissed Bronde

“Bronde is going to continue dominating because it’s just such an easy, low-maintenance color,” say Kaeding. “It’s that perfect blend of blonde and brunette that feels effortless but still looks put together. I see it paired with those lived-in blonde shades too—soft, natural, and a little sun-kissed.”
