Tips for women to keep their hearts healthy

There are several reasons as to why one might have heart disease and the reasons can range somewhere from obesity to high blood pressure.

Heart health is extremely important and that stands true for both men and women. Though the incidences of heart attacks and other heart diseases are more common among men, the condition is still seen among women and therefore, there is a need for women to take care of their hearts. If you don’t take care of your heart, it will eventually lead to heart diseases which can then lead to heart attacks and similar conditions.

There are several reasons as to why one might have heart disease and the reasons can range somewhere from obesity to high blood pressure. Also, the fact that women don’t take their nutritional needs seriously is also a major reason for heart diseases among women.

Here are a few causes of heart diseases among women:
  1. Being overweight
  2. Smoking
  3. High blood pressure
  4. High blood sugar
  5. Low levels of good cholesterol or HDL
  6. High intake of saturated fat, sugar and salt
  7. High BMI
  8. Low level of consumption of whole grains, fruits and vegetables
Now, here are a few tips that’ll help to keep your heart healthy:
  1. Go for regular checkups and if need be, consult a cardiologist
  2. If you are overweight or obese, work on reducing your body weight
  3. Avoid drinking alcohol as well as smoking
  4. Follow a diet that is low in its fat content but has high amounts of fibre and antioxidants
  5. If you’re stressed, find ways to reduce your stress
  6. If you suffer from diabetes or hypertension, make sure that your levels are under control so that they don’t lead to any major damage
  7. Exercise regularly and these can be any sort of physical activity
  8. Never ignore the symptoms such as breathlessness, chest pain and palpitation.
