The advancement in technology on the one hand has eased our lives while making us more sedentary. We have to sit for long hours for work which is giving rise to various health problems. Unfortunately, we can’t change the work patterns we all are following. However, we can make small changes to combat inactivity. Here are the five tips that will help you stay active even during work hours.

Cycle Or Walk To Your Workplace

In this busy lifestyle, it’s difficult to find time for exercise. However, it is important to maintain physical and mental health. If you live in a vicinity of your office then rather than taking a bike or a cab, you can walk or cycle to the workplace. It is a great cardio exercise that will help you stay fit and active throughout the day.

Stay Active Between Meetings

We all have to attend those long meetings which stretch for hours. This increases our sitting time. If possible take a 5 minute break in between. If that seems difficult, you can stretch your legs and move your hands for muscle relaxation. It will make you feel more active and alert.

Take Time For Stretch

We agree that you have a very busy schedule at your office. But that doesn’t mean you will take your health for granted. Thus it is recommended to stand up and stretch after every 30 minutes of sitting. You can stretch your arms, chest and move your shoulders. It will relieve the stress and save you from back pain. You can also take a walk for 2-3 minutes after every 40 to 45 minutes of sitting.

Take The Stairs

We all know that we should take stairs instead of lifts to keep ourselves fit. But we hardly do it because of the location of the offices in high rise buildings. But if your office is located on the third or fourth floor then take stairs rather than elevators to keep yourself active.

Take An Active Lunch Break

Lunch break is the time when you get to rise from your chair. So, make it an active time for you. Divide your lunch hour into two halves, use the first half for lunch and the second half for a brisk walk on your office premises.
