Investing in the perfect pair of jeans requires taking good care of them so they last forever. With that being said, it is such a mystery when it comes to taking care of denim. Below are great tips to prolonging the life of your jeans no matter how much they cost.
To prevent your jeans from fading, turn them inside out and wash them on the delicate cycle in cold water. If you aren’t feeling lazy, you can hand wash them with Woolite.
If you have to dry jeans in the machine, do it on the lowest heat setting and don’t dry them completely. Take them out to air dry.
If your jeans are a little too tight, let them air dry and then tug on the damp waist band by hand. This will stretch them out. If you want them extra stretched out, while you are tugging on the waist band, blow dry them on hot or go over it with a steam filled iron.
Denim Needs To Breathe
The fibers in denim need to breathe, so try not to pack them too tightly together on a shelf. Same with denim jackets, don’t hang them in a crowded closet.
The Perfect Fold
Lay them flat and fold them in half from left to right. Then fold the legs up in half so the hems of the legs line up with the waistband. Then fold the legs in half again and walah, you have a perfect fold.
In a Rush and Can’t Try on Jeans?
If you can’t try on jeans, try using the neck method to determine your size. This is where you take the waistline of the jeans around the diameter of your neck. If the waistline comfortably meets the back of your neck, the jeans should fit!
