Winter comes right after the monsoon. People often get ill as the weather transitions from Monsoon and heated summers to Winters. Initially, we all love the cool breeze and cold weaves, and we enjoy it through long bike rides, and evening and morning walk. Hence, we get ill because of changing weather. This cold viral is contagious because we spread it to everyone we get to meet. Kids are more prone to get ill during this climate change and therefore we need to follow some rules to keep them protected. Here are some of the tips to keep your kids healthy during winter are listed:

1. Turmeric Milk: Although kids don’t like to drink this and as we all know that this is the first home remedy we follow or even doctors recommend for colds. I sometimes put a pinch of turmeric in her chocolate milk. I know it’s cheating but we have to do tricks for their better health and I do a lot of tricks with her when it comes to feeding her something healthy.

2. Avoid going out in the late evening or night: Try to keep them inside after sunset and try not to go out until or unless it is necessary. In the evening, the temperature drops, and kids can get cold by breathing cool air. So, it’s better to keep them inside and protected with warm clothes.

3. Get them enrolled in some Sports: In Winter, mostly we all including kids become vitamin D deficient. So, it’s very important that they get enough sunlight in winter. For that, I enrolled my daughter in Lawn Tennis. It keeps her active and they play during the daytime and she gets enough sunlight and which makes her physically active also.

4. Indoor Games: Kids used to play till late evenings in the part with their friends and when we ask them to stay back at home as its cold outside then they get bored at home. To make this boring weather fun for them all we can do is to have them engaged with awesome indoor games like Clay Modelling, Painting, Board Games, etc. We have a collection of Indoor Games that we play with our daughter so that she doesn’t miss going out to play with her friends. Instead, she enjoys this indoor play time with both of us.

5. Keep Hydrated: Although we are not sweating, we can still get dehydrated. Kids are more in danger of becoming dehydrated. We should encourage them to drink water every hour to stay hydrated. They get so involved in their play that they forget to drink water. We should keep their bottle filled with lukewarm water and ask them to sip in between the playtime. Keep checking their bottle to make sure they are drinking water or not.

6. Healthy eating habits: Make sure to include healthy food in their daily diet to improve immunity. There are many healthy fruits and veggies that kids avoid eating. We should find a way to include those in their daily food menu without the drama. My daughter avoids fruits so I make pudding, shakes, salad, cake with fruits, etc.

7. Take enough sleep: Taking enough sleep of at least 8 hours is important for your child’s immunity. Sleep is very important in the overall mental and physical growth of kids. It also helps to improve their focus and attention. If they get enough sleep then they will be more energetic and focused throughout the day.

These are just some suggestions but there are many other ways also. Every kid’s interests and lifestyle are different so try and see what works for you. Take all the actions that can decrease their chances of getting ill.
